Hello North Carolina friends! Vote Forward still has 14,000 letters that need to be sent to NC voters. Please jump in if you can. My group did over 1000 this week but our hands are sore! I know postage is expensive but even doing five would help so much. Sending love and strength to you all! https://votefwd.org/
Unfortunately, canvassing in western NC isn’t safe because of the devastation from hurricane Helene. Feeling really frustrated because I don’t have money for donations or postage now.
I’m trying to think of a new way to reach people other than canvassing and phone banks. Cell service is back but not great.
I’m so sorry, I totally misread your comment. Sounded to me like you did have some enthusiasm/ability for politics but just not the financial resources. I’m getting messages and seeing posts from people at all levels of recovery depending on where they live. I do hope you get your water back as soon as possible, that has to be horrible. Went without power once for weeks after Hugo And you’re reminding me how exhausting it got. I hope your situation improves as soon as possible.
The NC Democratic Party has sufficient funds for postcards and stamps. Just a few of the western counties don't have party infrastructure, and we in the non-affected areas are about to start partnering with mountain counties. . Are you on the Dem Women for Harris Facebook group? Just about each county has a subgroup and I know for our county's subgroup, the county party chair checks it every day. Happy to try to help.
Most of us are tied up with survival. I still don’t have water. Many communities still don’t have electricity or internet. The schools are still closed.
If you’re outside of the affected area, you probably don’t understand how little bandwidth or energy is left for politics when everything has been turned upside down.
KL I hope things are improving where you are. My family is in Burnsville and it’s improving but some areas are so wiped out. Sending you strength and love.

I have 100 postcards I have put off sending due to the floods. Should I just go ahead-- anyone have insights?
Yes!!! Send them. My family is in Burnsville which was super hard hit, but it’s getting better each day and many areas of NC were not affected.

You’re joking, right?
