Hey, Team NC!
A note from my North Carolina collaborator, Marilyn:
It’s both exciting and terrifying to live in a swing state, but we remain determined and hopeful we can vote in a bluer state this fall.Â
So.. keep doing everything you’re doing!  It’s working.Â

A few things to keep in mind at this point in election season -Â
DOWN BALLOT RACES:  When people mark their ballots for down ballot races, they also vote the top of the ballot. The reverse is not necessarily true. A recent study of swing states by Sister District shows that Democrats are more likely than Republicans to skip down ballot races in state legislative races. Turns out also that all voters consider state offices less important than federal or local. Let’s do something about that and make sure voters feel knowledgeable and confident in voting the whole ballot!  Let’s help more voters understand that state government affects them day to day as much as if not more than federal or local government.  Â
VOTER REGISTRATION: The deadline for voter registration drives end Oct 11, so this is a good time to help out with these. Of course, people can register and vote at the same time during Early Voting, but reaching them ahead of time is good because when we talk to them, we can make sure they know about the photo ID requirement and where and when they can vote.Â
If you live in NC, there are voter registration opportunities this month with You Can Vote in many parts of the state (and they provide a great one hour online training - it’s the best!) and with your local Democratic Party (check your county party website). Wherever you live, you can try phone banking and texting to unregistered likely Democrats with Field Team 6. All the actions mentioned here can be found at the links above.
A bow of gratitude to all of you for being in this work with us.Â

Thank you Cheryl!
National Voter Registration Day 9/17 - September is indeed a good time to focus on registering more voters. And I apologize for not mentioning the postcard option for registering voters with Field Team 6. The info is on my google doc. I just forgot to mention. See https://tinyurl.com/VotingRightsActions (under both Register Voters and Writing Postcards and Letters sections.
