Hi North Carolina!
I’m going to keep this one short since I hit you with a lot earlier this week. But there are a few more opportunities coming up and I wanted to make sure you had the chance to join.
THIS FRIDAY 3/21: The North Carolina Court of Appeals is going to hear the merits (or lack thereof) of Jefferson Griffin's crusade against more than 65,000 voters' right to have their ballots counted. They aren't giving the public the option to view it in person - well, fine. NC Democrats has organized a way to watch it virtually.
Please join NC Democrats for a Zoom watch party of the proceedings live and gain a deeper understanding of the case, its implications, and what’s at stake for North Carolinians. SIGN UP. What a great opportunity to hear first hand about this crucial decision!
Then, join on Monday, March 24 at 7pm for a virtual briefing on the state of the North Carolina Supreme Court race, Republican power grabs at the state level and how we fight back. They'll provide you with specific actions to take in your community. SIGN UP
Wednesday, March 26, 7:00 PM ET. Join Neighbors On Call/County To County on to hear from NC Senator Lisa Grafstein about the plan for electing Democrats at the state level to protect us from the horrors at the national level. Learn how you can channel your Trump angst and turn it into strategic, effective action. And learn more about C2C + NoC: what they do, where they work, and how to get started canvassing and phone banking with them. SIGN UP
Democracy dies in darkness and these events are sure to enlighten. I hope you can join one or more of these events!
Jess (and Marilyn, NC partner + Andrea who helps with state newsletters)
There is a Town Hall for Tillis (empty chair) on Friday night at Raleigh Brewing Company.
For Durham folks there is also Durham Dems Action on Substack!
