Hey, Team North Carolina!
Early voting is right around the corner (October 17), so it’s time to make sure that you and everyone you know are prepared to vote! Click here to look at eight reminders issued by the NC State Board of Elections - these cover deadlines, how to register, how to check your registration, etc. Click here for a list of approved voter IDs. Both are great sites to forward to some of the less informed voters in your life!Â
On to volunteering:
Volunteering as a poll observer is one of the most effective ways to combat voter disenfranchisement. As a poll observer, you’ll provide reports on voter intimidation and any other issues that arise at polling sites, and help make sure that everyone is able to cast their ballot. Get started by signing up for a 1.5 hour training session with the NC Dems that will walk you through the process.
Another amazingly helpful thing you can do is volunteer as an absentee ballot count observer! County boards of elections across NC will be meeting every Tuesday leading up to the election to examine ballots, and determine which should be rejected. We need observers for this process to ensure election integrity! Register here for the upcoming count observer training meeting this Monday, 6-7pm.
Lastly, we are fast approaching the October 1 deadline for writing and sending out letters in Vote Forward’s voter registration campaign. They are still in need of a significant number of writers for NC, so click here to get started!
OK, that’s all for now. Thank you for the amazing work you’re doing!!
Jess
Poll Greeting is a very important volunteer role during early voting and on election day! It's the last chance to provide information about candidates and (very importantly) to encourage people to vote for ALL the offices on the ballot. We hand out "sample ballots" (printed on blue paper) with our Democratic candidates for every office filled in on the samples. Our voters have come to look for the sample ballots when they show up at the polls.
Thanks for this. Taking my poll observer training this AM!
