Hey, Team NC!
Are we tired yet? Only 58 more days to go! YIKES!
I thought I might be able to lure some of you to phonebank into North Carolina using Julia Louis-Dreyfus as bait! She’s awesome, right?
Turns out she’s also a big friend of democracy, so she’s going to be joining Sister District for a phonebank into North Carolina on Tuesday, September 20th at 5PM ET. This phonebank, by the way, meets every week at this time to make calls for NC State Senator Sydney Batch or NC State Rep Deb Butler. While state-level races like this may feel boring, they are a) critical to the survival of our democracy and b) incredibly helpful in winning up-ballot races…like—ahem—US Senate!
So please, come on the 20th and meet JLD or sign up for even ONE shift on a Tuesday after that.
I know how uncomfortable it is to make calls.
But I can only imagine how much more uncomfortable it will be to live in a Christo-fascist autocracy. Let’s not let that happen.
Thanks, all. More soon!
Jess
P.S. Friendly reminder, if phonebanking is just a bridge too far, that Center For Common Ground (an amazing org) has postcarding to help Black voters in NC overcome voter suppression. You do need to order CFCG’s cards but it’s easy to do and they are affordable. Everything you need to get started is here. These cards need to be mailed between October 13th and 25th, so there’s no time to waste!
