Hey, Team NC!

I’ve got an exciting update from North Carolina activist—and co-author of this newsletter—Marilyn Hartman!

Hi friends and allies of North Carolina,

The momentum you’ve been hearing about around the country is happening in North Carolina too!  People are showing up to cheer on the Dems at Harris events and county party events across the state. We have 100 counties in NC, and most of them are rural.  Engagement is happening at a scale never before seen.  

We need to harness all that enthusiasm into volunteerism!  We are going to need to recruit a lot more volunteers to make it all happen this fall, with early voting starting on October 17, just over 10 weeks from now!  That’s where you come in, whether you live in NC or somewhere else. Between now and the election, we need to recruit people to knock on doors, table at outdoor events, and make phone calls.  Plus volunteers are needed to be poll workers, Democratic poll observers, and poll greeters.

Happily there are a lot of phone banks right now with the goal of recruiting volunteers. And just as happily, these are easy calls to strong Democrats (people who vote consistently in Democratic primaries and then show up to vote in the General Elections).  I’ve updated the phone bank calendar for the entire month of August. Not all of the phone banks are for recruiting volunteers, and feel free to choose whichever type of phone bank you like,  but I am choosing to highlight the recruitment of volunteers for the moment.  Next time I’ll highlight the groups that call rural and Black voters across the state - they are listed on the calendar as well.
