Chop Wood, Carry NC 11/10 🦋
A couple of last, important things.
First of all, I’m sending hugs and thanks. I know we didn’t have the big wins we wanted in NC, but let’s not discount the inroads we did make—especially the fact that we blocked a supermajority in the NC statehouse, which may have been the single most important thing we could do in that state!
Two more things:
First, it’s not NC-related, but I wanted to see if any of you are available to help with ballot curing. It’s happening hard right now in several states and since some races could come down to single digits we need all hands on deck. Find cure events for several different states here, and please share this doc with trusted friends!
Second, Dreama Caldwell from the amazing Down Home NC just reached out to me and asked me to invite all of you to their “State of Our State: Election Recap”
tonight from 7:00PM - 8:00PM ET. From her email:
Join us to debrief the elections!
On Tuesday night, we learned what we already knew: Rural voters matter. Our team at Down Home stopped a Republican supermajority by one seat. We saw amazing grassroots wins, and suffered some heartbreaking local loses. But the work never has stopped on election night.
There's a lot to make sense of, and many of us are wondering- where do we go from here? We're already looking down the road to 2024, and we've got a lot of ground to cover to ensure that our government works for us.
Join Down Home North Carolina for State of Our State: Elections Debrief to talk about our wins, and our losses, and what it means for our multiracial working-class rural movement going into 2023.
All Down Home members and supporters are invited!
OK, all. I’ll be returning to focussing exclusively on my main newsletter as we forge ahead. There’s still so much work to do, so I hope—if you haven’t already—you’ll consider signing up below!
Thanks for ALL you have done to help save democracy!
